چکیده:
The performance of an electro-coagulation (EC) process with aluminum/iron electrodes for removal of Basic Red18 on laboratory scale was studied. This study elucidates the removal of organic dye from synthetic textile effluents through electrochemical technique. Effect of pH and current intensity were investigated in this system. It was found that degradation was maximum at the current intensity of 0.6 A and at a pH of 5-7. Effect of type of color:#000;text-decoration:none">various electrolyts on color removal was also investigated, electrolysis time (15–33 min) and it showed that maximum removal efficiency (96%) was reached within 15 minutes at 0.6 A. While studying the effect of pH on dye removal, it was observed that a decrease in water recovery was found at 1000mg/L of dye. These results suggest an important role of these parameters in electrochemical process for removing organic pollutants. The EC technique showed satisfactory color removal (96 %) and reliable performance in treating basic dye. The removal efficiency and energy consumption data showed that, for a given pH and optimum current density: 97A/m2, Fe / Al were used in treating the dyes with an initial concentration of 100, 1000 mg/L, the specific energy consumption in achieving above 96.0% color removal was on order of 0.005-0.014kWh/L of dye wastewater in all systems, water recovery was 0.95-0.98 L/L of wastewater.
