چکیده:
This paper makes the presentation of the author’s innovation technique of the enhancement of capacity for the piles under pullout tests. Skin friction is a major design factor for piles as a member of structures subject to significant uplift forces such as transmission towers, harbor structures, and offshore platforms and for anchor piles. The increasing use of pile foundations in offshore and harbor structures has drawn attention to the need for increasing skin friction of such piles and necessitated accurate assessment of uplift resistance. A series of small scale physical modeling test of piles under pullout load with diameter of 5cm and with slenderness ratio L/D=1,2,3 and 4 in dry loose sand with unit weight of 14.2 KN/m2 were carried out. In order to enhance the pile capacity, asphalt and Geogrid were adopted. The results from the laboratory tests shown that using asphalt and Geogrid as a coating material with sufficient rough surface increased of surface of piles. Consequently, the result of application of this technique has achieved the pile capacity as high as 2 times that of plain piles.
